There is arguably nothing more important you could do today than pray.

We have the ear of the infinitely holy and ultimately powerful Lord that created the entire universe.   And we skip it because we’re too “busy.”

God is the ultimate source of every good thing, so prayer (communicating with God) becomes the essential power source for every good work you will do to serve other people.

Time with God and time with people are the only things that last into eternity.   Prayer is of ultimate importance simply because it’s communion with God, and God is of ultimate importance.

Prayer causes the help we extend to others to have eternal impact.

1 Thessalonians tells us to “Never stop praying” (5:17).   In the Bible we see Daniel’s prayer, Nehemiah’s prayer, the prayers Paul started so many of his letters with, Jesus’ prayers (the Lord’s prayer, prayer for unity in John:17, prayer in Gethsemane, prayer from the cross, and more).

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere”  (Eph 6:18)

At all times and on every occasion.   I’m not sure how much more clear that can be.

God is eager to help us as we seek Him. . .

What are some of the reasons we don’t pray as often as we would like?

What could you change today that would help you pray more consistently?
